How to Have a Successful Weight Loss Surgery
With every successful bariatric surgery comes total dedication from everyone involved, especially the patient. It is widely known that bariatric surgery is no quick and easy fix, but it is a longer-lasting solution for weight loss. After surgery, you are expected to make lifestyle changes, and you will have to work hard to make these changes. And this process can be difficult for some.
The journey to a healthier lifestyle requires hard work and commitment, and the team at New Life Center for Bariatric Surgery in Knoxville, TN offers these helpful strategies to help you have a successful weight loss surgery.
What can you expect after bariatric surgery?
At New Life Center for Bariatric Surgery in Knoxville, you will work closely with our Bariatric Surgeon, Dr. K. Robert Williams and his team who will make sure that any medical changes are addressed.
You will be instructed to attend follow-up visits two weeks after surgery, then visits at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-op. During these follow-up visits, our team will go over your dietary changes, including the types of food you can eat and for how long, and any vitamin supplements you may take.
Our Exercise Physiologist, Morgan Thomas will work with you at 1 and 9 months post-op. She will discuss with you how to safely exercise.
Adjusting to the overall changes
Even when you think you’re 100 percent ready for the procedure, you may still feel a mix of emotions afterwards. There may be feelings of doubt, sadness, and even frustration. These are normal.
Bariatric surgery is a life-changing procedure and it can be a tough journey. This is why we highly recommend our patients to join our support group.
Our Bariatric Support Groups are held the 3rd and 4th Mondays of each month at 5:30pm in the Holston Room of the Physicians Plaza at 9330 Parkwest Blvd. in Knoxville. To register for our support groups, please call (865) 374-7275 as space is limited.
