Meet Dr. Rob Williams of New Life Center for Bariatric Surgery
Weight loss surgery is more than just a surgical procedure. It’s a lifestyle change.
Dr. Rob Williams of New Life Center for Bariatric Surgery understands this. He and his team of weight loss experts work with patients to help ensure success at each step of the weight loss journey. Learn more about Dr. Williams and what bariatric surgery entails for prospective patients below.
What does bariatric surgery cover?
“As a bariatric surgeon, my focus is on treating morbid obesity directly. We’re helping people lose weight but we’re also treating medical problems that go along with it – high blood pressure, diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, arthritis, and even gastroesophageal reflux disease.”
What is your philosophy on caring for bariatric patients?
“I think it’s a huge privilege and huge honor for someone to allow me to do surgery on them. I have operations on myself; it’s literally putting your life to someone else’s hands. I take that trust very seriously and I want patients to know that when I take care of them, I focus on them and I’m going to do my best to take care of them.”
Any advice for patients considering bariatric surgery?
“If you’re going to do this, don’t let anybody tell you that it’s the easy way out. It’s actually very difficult; it’s a hard process. But for most people who are morbidly obese, it’s the only way out. I think it’s a great option, especially if you’re willing to do a lifestyle change and willing to put forth an effort – you make up your mind and move forward. In the population of patients, people almost never regret having weight loss surgery if they have that mindset.”
