Three weeks and going strong!
By Kelley Narramore, LPN
This weekend was a real turning point for me. I had really been struggling with fatigue and my energy levels. Some of this has to do with my protein intake. I am still struggling with that, but am trying everyday to improve. I really feel like I am back to “normal,” so to speak.
Protein intake has been the obstacle that has blindsided me. I really felt like going into this surgery I had all of the knowledge a person could need to be successful, but all the knowledge in the world couldn’t have really prepared me for the changes that happen after surgery. My stomach has had a hard time with the protein supplements after surgery. Knowing that I need them or have to take in a certain amount has only served to make me more frustrated and distraught. I am determined to stick with it though. I know it will get easier the further out I get.
My success for this week is I’m down thirty pounds now! That puts me at 32.6% of my excess. I’m very excited about it, but as I tell all my patients, this process is about more than a number on a scale. I’m wearing clothes I haven’t worn in forever. I can’t remember how long it’s been since I was this size. It really makes you feel great. I’ve never lost weight at the rate I am losing now. The best part is knowing that this is the last time I’ll have to lose it! For me there is no going back!
Til next time!
